THE BEGINNING

Back in 2018 when we first moved in, the plot of land across the street was nothing but an empty patch of dirt. A large sign claimed the property as belonging to Santa Fe Casinos, and rumors circulated that a casino might be built on the land. However, none of us really believed it would come to fruition. It's remarkable to see how much the area has changed in just a few short years. Now, as we watch the construction progress on the Durango Casino, it's a daily reminder of how much can happen in a short amount of time.

THE CONSTRUCTION

When news broke that construction would begin on the Durango Casino in 2022, it sparked mixed reactions throughout the community. While some were excited about the prospect of a new entertainment venue in the neighborhood, others expressed concern that the casino might bring crime and alcohol-related accidents. Personally, I'm excited about the convenience of having a nearby venue to celebrate New Year's Eve.
